About this Recipe

Meatball Subs are an Italian-American staple and this Brava take will be a major hit in your kitchen. Savory meatballs, red sauce, and melted cheese come together on toasted bread—what’s not to love? This recipe works with any kind of cooked meatball. If you’re in the mood for a project, use the meatballs from the Brava Meatballs and Red Sauce recipe, or use store bought meatballs as a shortcut.

  • 6 large or 8 medium sized meatballs, cooked and warmed
  • 1 cup marinara sauce, plus more if desired
  • 5 ounces fresh mozzarella or provolone cheese, shredded or cut into thin slices
  • fresh basil for serving
  • grated parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
  • black pepper
