Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from the community

Is cooking with Brava safe?

+

-

Yes. Brava relies on infrared (just like a regular oven) and visible light (which is how we see the world, but without using UV or blue light). Your traditional ovens, toasters, and grills use infrared for broiling, baking, toasting, and roasting. It’s the same heat that emanates from a campfire and it’s very different than a microwave. Brava is designed to be safe for everyone in the family, including children. During normal cooking the exterior stays cool to the touch, and sensors will automatically and instantaneously cut off power when the door is opened. An inline thermal fuse cuts off power if the oven interior should ever reach unsafe temperatures.
Brava vs. a microwave

+

-

Microwaves use RF energy to heat water molecules in the food, essentially boiling it from the inside out. Practically, this means that microwaves are very efficient at heating liquids, but for solid foods they dry out the interior while leaving the outside soggy. Brava uses powerful infrared, like the energy from an oven or grill, so it can heat quickly but also sear, something microwaves aren’t capable of.
Where to put the oven in the kitchen?

+

-

The Brava is designed to be a countertop oven and can not be built in to a cabinet as it requires airflow around the back for ventilation.
Power needs? Dedicated circuit?

+

-

The Brava Oven needs to be connected to a dedicated outlet that is supported by a 20 amp breaker. The Brava is intended to be connected to a 110V-120V 60Hz circuit. The Brava Oven pulls approximately 1800 Watts.

Brava Recipe Programs

Through extensive testing, Brava chefs develop recipe programs for different dishes so each ingredient gets precisely cooked, as different lamps turn on, off, and change temperature. When you choose a setting and push the button, Brava takes over to ensure consistently delicious results.

Microwave Speed, Oven Quality

Frozen food and reheated leftovers are no longer dried out and flavorless.

Pizza Night

Brava is powerful enough to match your local pizzeria’s wood fire oven.

Breakfast!

Eggs. Bacon. Hashbrowns. Toast. Make it all while the coffee brews.

Perfect Proteins

Beautifully seared steaks, crispy chicken, perfect salmon, any night.

But I already have an oven...

Ovens are great for Thanksgiving, and microwaves are good at reheating soup… but Brava is great at almost everything else. With its combination of time savings, ease of use, and downright delicious food, it’s easy to see why most Brava owners use their traditional oven mainly for storage.

Oven

Ovens are slow to heat and slow to cool, plus they don’t get hot enough to sear without overcooking. Brava heats faster, cooks hotter, and monitors your food so that it doesn’t overcook.

Microwave

Microwaves essentially boil your food from the inside, making it dry in the middle and soggy outside. Brava reheats your food quickly without drying it out - keeping flavor in, and re-crisping.

Grill

Grills take a long time to heat up, require constant monitoring, and have to live outside. Brava can match the heat of the grill from the comfort of your kitchen, without adding the carcinogens.

Sous Vide

Takes a long time to cook, and you still need to sear after pulling your food from the bag. Brava monitors the internal temp for a perfect cook, so your food comes out in a fraction of the time and already has a perfect sear.

Frying Pan

Takes a long time to heat up and requires a lot of attention and technique to avoid over/under cooking or burning. Brava offers faster more consistent results without having to watch over the stove.

Pizza Oven

Pizza ovens can hit 1000˚ to achieve a crispy crust, but take a long time to heat, and are quick to burn food if you aren’t careful. Brava cooks a crispy crust from fresh dough in 10 minutes with no preheat.

Broiler

Traditional broilers only heat from the top, but Brava’s Sear function heats from the top and bottom to give maximum control and flexibility.
