About this Custom Cook

For another fun way to use the Egg Tray, make some hand pies! These adorable dudes are veggie-filled, using the Roasted Mixed Vegetables preset. However, you could easily make this Custom Cook your own by filling the pies with fruit, a custard, or even pot-pie filling—just delete the first step.

These pies do take a bit of time with the rest steps, but they are well worth it!


Ingredients:
1 box (two rounds) premade pie crust dough
1 russet potato, quartered and sliced thinly
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
1/4 cup frozen peas
1/4 cup other veg, chopped or sliced thinly
1 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 tsp mixed dried herbs, like Herbes de Provence
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Fresh ground pepper, to taste
1/4 cup shredded cheddar, or other cheese
1 egg
1 tbsp water
Flaky salt, to garnish


Recipe Instructions:
1. Prep Filling — Slice veg, season with olive oil and seasoning, and fill Zones 1, 2, & 3 of the Metal Tray. Slide Metal Tray onto top shelf, and start the custom cook (Roasted Mixed Vegetables preset). When completed, transfer to a bowl and chill in fridge.

2. Prep Dough — Roll out both rounds of dough. Using a bowl larger than an Egg Tray well, trace and cut circles from dough. About three fit per dough round, so combine remaining dough and roll out to form the fourth. You should have 8 small rounds. Form one round in each egg well, with a bit hanging over the edge. Chill Egg Tray and pie tops in fridge.

3. Fill and Form Pies — Once everything is chilled, fill pie wells with two heaping spoonfuls of filling. You will probably have leftover filling. Top filling with shredded cheese. Place pie top dough rounds over each pie, and crimp the edges with a fork. Poke or slice small holes to vent. Return to fridge to chill.

4. Bake Pies — While Brava preheats, whisk egg with water, and brush egg wash over pies. Sprinkle with flaky salt. Once rapid preheat is finished, slide Egg Tray onto top shelf, and bake (450F for 13m, 350F for 17m).

5. Finish Pies — When baking is completed, or desired brownness is reached, remove Egg Tray and set to cool. Carefully remove hand pies from Egg Tray, and enjoy!
