Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Brava relies on infrared (just like a regular oven) and visible light (which is how we see the world, but without using UV or blue light). Your traditional ovens, toasters, and grills use infrared for broiling, baking, toasting, and roasting. It’s the same heat that emanates from a campfire and it’s very different than a microwave. Brava is designed to be safe for everyone in the family, including children. During normal cooking the exterior stays cool to the touch, and sensors will automatically and instantaneously cut off power when the door is opened. An inline thermal fuse cuts off power if the oven interior should ever reach unsafe temperatures.
Microwaves use RF energy to heat water molecules in the food. Practically, this means that microwaves are very efficient at heating liquids and penetrate relatively deep into the food. This can dry out food while leaving the outside soggy. Brava uses powerful infrared energy, like that from an oven or grill, so it can heat quickly but also sear, something microwaves aren’t capable of.
The Brava is designed to be a countertop oven and can not be built in to a cabinet as it requires airflow around the back for ventilation.
The Brava Oven needs to be connected to a dedicated outlet that is supported by a 20 amp breaker. The Brava is intended to be connected to a 110V-120V 60Hz circuit. The Brava Oven pulls approximately 1800 Watts.
